Why repositories were missing in the Files app
A Files app extension has little memory. How a shallower index fixed it.
GiCode shows your repositories in the Files app under “GiCode”. A File Provider extension does that – a separate process that iOS runs with tight memory.
The problem
The extension's index initially covered many levels of a repository. With large repositories the memory ran out and repositories did not show up in the Files app.
The fix (build 3)
- The index now only tracks the repository folders (depth 1).
- Deeper items are registered on demand.
- The Files app re-reads the repository list on every launch.
- Settings explain that the location must be activated once and can open the Files app directly.
